Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a grass root level institution designed and devoted to impart need-based and skill-oriented vocational training to the practicing farmers, in-service extension personnel and to those who wish to go in for self-employment through "learning by doing". It aims at making the poor one good so as to raise the living conditions of the poorest of the poor.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lengpui was inaugurated on 31st May’2008. KVK, Lengpui was inaugurated keeping in mind to improve the socio-economic condition of the farming community and to accelerate the agricultural production within Mamit district. The inauguration function was chaired by Joint Secretary, Agriculture,etc. Govt of Mizoram. On this auspicious occasion, the Minister said that Mizoram is getting the blessing of Govt. of India on various developmental works and it is a high time we prepare ourselves to receive and benefit the blessing in body and spirit. He also added that with the introduction of new innovation and technology, one needs to be changed in terms of knowledge, skill and attitude for which a training of this kind is of prime importance. He concluded his speech by his faith in KVK to bringforth positive changes to farmers of Mizoram. Speech was also given by Dr. O.P.Singh, Director, Department of Agriculture (R&E) followed by introduction of the newly recruited staff of KVK, Lengpui.
Since the inauguration, Officers & staff of KVK, Lengpui moved to action to bring forth changes to the community of Mamit districts. Different activities like trainings, farm demonstrations, animal camps, on and off campus trainings, detail survey of Mamit districts etc had been taken up.
