Soil Health Day 2022 Celebration
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mamit district Lengpui, Mizoram celebrates World Soil Day on 5th of December, 2022 at KVK Training Hall, Lengpui. On this occasion Dr. Vanlalhruaia Hnamte, Senior Scientist & Head of KVK, Mamit district, Lengpui welcomes all the participants by briefing the Mandated activities and important of Soil Day. Mary Lalfakzuali, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) gave a detail report on distribution of Soil Health Card, she delivered lecture on the Theme: “Soils: where Food begins” stressing on the important of Soil as the Soil is the basis for food, feed, fuel and fibre production and for services to ecosystems and human well-being. She also stressed on Natural farming and Soil health as it is one of the component of Natural farming, Soil Testing of Soil before cultivation of any crops in the farm is one the most important procedure for farmers taking up Farming as well.
On this day, Mr. Zonunsanga, Executive Councillor, LAD, Aizawl Municipal Council, Aizawl graced the function as Chief Guest. 20 numbers of school students participated from Government Higher Secondary School, Lengpui, 35 numbers of farmers from different villages under Mamit district also participated. 135 numbers of Soil Health Card was distributed to the farmers.
Different Seeds of Winter vegetables were also distributed to all the participants. The programme was concluded by Vote of Thanks from Dr. Rebecca Lalmuanpuii, Subject Matter Specialist (Agroforestry).
